Introductions are always a bit awkward but there, it’s done.
And this is, you ask?
An independent SEO consultancy is the short answer. A place where, with nearly a decade of experience, I aim to help brands strengthen their websites, improve their search visibility and make smarter decisions about organic growth.
But there’s a little more to it than that.
Behind the Name

Search is the obvious bit.
Search has been at the centre of my career throughout the years, and helping brands improve their search visibility through thoughtful SEO and content strategy is what I love to do.
Season has a few angles.
I’ve always been drawn to the idea that growth, just like life, happens in seasons. People and businesses evolve, priorities change, and meaningful progress often takes time.
The best results rarely come from rushing; they’re built through consistency, patience and thoughtful decisions over time — taking the seasons as they come and making the best of them.
Outside of SEO, one of my biggest passions has always been food. Whether through cooking, discovering new places to eat or creating food content, it’s been something I’ve loved for years. And in food, seasoning is what brings everything together — enhancing what’s already there and helping it reach its full potential.
Search & Season reflects both what I do and what I love: thoughtful search strategy, sustainable growth and a genuine passion for helping brands bring out their best.
Why Set Up As An Independent SEO Consultant?
Talking of seasons, my life has already been through a fair few in my humble years — and one of the most life changing happened recently: becoming a mother to twins. Like, proper life changing. In the best way.
I’ve loved working as part of agencies doing SEO, but having two babies changed my perspective on life massively and prioritising my family became non-negotiable.
Setting up as an independent SEO consultant means I can build a different kind of working life — one where I can work closely with brands, be properly involved in the work and give each project the attention it deserves. It also means I get to do the work I love in a way that feels right for this particular season of my life.
From businesses around Edinburgh to brands across the UK, the aim is the same: thoughtful, considered SEO without unnecessary noise.
The Brands I Love Working With

Naturally, my passion lies in a few particular places.
Food and drink is a big one.
Whilst so much of the success of food and drink brands these days lies with social media and, of course, what happens in person, a website remains a base that both new and returning customers go to. I believe it’s somewhere that should showcase the very best of the business.
A brilliant restaurant might have an incredible menu and thousands of followers, but if someone searching for somewhere to eat can’t find it, there’s a gap. A food brand might have beautiful packaging and a loyal social following, but its website still needs to help people discover it, understand it and ultimately buy from it.
That’s where I find SEO particularly interesting. It isn’t just about getting more people to a website. It’s about helping the right people find the right business at the right time.
Alongside food and drink, I love working with lifestyle, e-commerce, hospitality, creative and founder-led brands — particularly businesses where the website is an important part of how people discover and experience the brand.
What I Believe Good SEO Should Do
SEO has changed enormously over the years.
Countless algorithm updates, mobile-first indexing, AI-generated content, ever changing search behaviours and now AI Overviews – fundamentally changing the way people discover information and quite frankly, my job.
But despite all of that, I don’t think the fundamentals have changed as much as we sometimes think they have.
Good SEO should start with understanding the business. Who are you trying to reach? What are they looking for? What makes your business different? What does the customer actually need from your website?
From there, SEO should help bring those things together. It should make a website easier to understand and navigate. It should make useful content easier to find. It should uncover opportunities that genuinely make sense for the business. Ultimately, it should help more of the right people discover you.
I’m not particularly interested in SEO for the sake of rankings alone. A number going up in a tool is nice. But if it doesn’t translate into visibility, engagement, enquiries, bookings, sales or whatever success looks like for your business, then what’s the point?
Why Food & Drink?
This is probably the easiest question for me to answer. I just really love food.
I’ve spent my years discovering restaurants, cafés, food brands and places worth talking about. I love the experience of finding somewhere new, trying something I’ve never had before and telling other people about it. Mostly I just really like eating proper tasty scran.
I think that gives me a slightly different perspective when working with food and hospitality businesses. I’m not looking at a restaurant website purely as an SEO professional – I’m also looking at it as someone who might be deciding where to eat on a Friday night.
Would I know what kind of experience this place offers? Could I find the menu? Would I know where it is? Could I easily book? Does the website make me want to visit?
SEO and brand experience shouldn’t sit in separate boxes. The best websites bring the two together.
A Different Approach to SEO
Search & Season isn’t designed to be an SEO content machine. I’m not here to churn out hundreds of pages, send endless reports or recommend changes simply because an SEO tool has highlighted them.
My approach is much more considered. I’ll take the time to understand where your business is now, where you want to go and what role your website needs to play in getting you there.
I’ll look at the search landscape, your competitors, your website and the opportunities available to you. Then I’ll help you work out what actually matters. Sometimes that might mean fixing technical foundations. Sometimes it might mean improving existing content. Sometimes there might be a whole host of new opportunities worth pursuing. And sometimes the best recommendation might be to not do something – because good SEO isn’t about doing everything. It’s about knowing what is worth doing — and why.
SEO For The Season You’re In

This is probably where the name Search & Season comes together best.
Every business is in a different season. You might be launching something new. You might be trying to grow. You might be established and looking to improve what’s already working. You might be changing direction, entering a new market or simply trying to understand why your website isn’t performing as well as you’d hoped.
Your SEO strategy shouldn’t look exactly the same in every one of those situations. Sometimes you need to grow aggressively. Sometimes you need to fix the foundations. Sometimes you need to step back, understand what’s happening and make a plan. And sometimes you just need someone experienced to look at the bigger picture and tell you what you’d prioritise if you were in their shoes.
That’s the kind of SEO consultancy I want Search & Season to be – thoughtful, strategic, balanced and tailored to the season your business is actually in.
So, That’s Search & Season.
It’s an independent SEO consultancy built around nearly a decade of experience in search, a genuine love of food and a belief that good growth doesn’t need to be rushed.
It’s about understanding where a business is, finding the opportunities that make sense and helping it move forward with a little more clarity. And, hopefully, adding just the right amount of seasoning along the way. I’m very glad you’re here. If you made it this far, thanks!
